The annual Mushroom exhibition is organized by the Latvian Museum of Natural History mycologists, and will showcase the diversity of fungi found in Latvian wilderness.
More than 4000 fungi species have been found in Latvia. Over 200 of those are edible, however, despite the strong mushrooming tradition, only around 20–30 species are well recognized, and mushrooming novices would collect only the most popular of those.
The exhibition is a great opportunity to discover the overwhelming mushroom diversity, learn the species and clarify fungi related questions. Fresh mushrooms will be brought in by the museum staff every day during the show, thus the selection of species will change slightly throughout the week.
The museum mycologists Inita Dāniele and Diāna Meiere will provide consultations for visitors.
