It is man-made. A place that is pleasant to the eye. Perfectly green and always mown. A place to relax, a place to run on. It has a low diversity of species. It can please the eye, but it cannot provide food. It may contain alien species, but native ones may be absent.
Is the lawn with its empty picnic table and human litter more beautiful and more valuable than a forest, a beaver pond, a swamp or a meadow that you have left behind? Sit back, look around you and think, what would happen if there were no diversity in the environment?Without biodiversity, your plate will be empty!
