Is There Life Without Biodiversity?
Exhibition

Biodiversity comprises everything that lives on planet Earth. It is the diversity of different species of plants, animals, fungi and micro-organisms. Every forest, mire, meadow or even garden is full of organisms that together form a special, unique ecosystem.

Every living thing, no matter how small, has a role to play in keeping our planet healthy and balanced. Plants produce oxygen, while insects pollinate the flowers to ensure that fruit can ripen. Animals, plants and other organisms purify water and soil, maintain the climate and provide food. Everything is interconnected.

Human activity has caused major changes in the environment and promoted the extinction of various species. When we lose one species, the loss affects many others.

Go for a walk and discover four habitats that are found in Latvia! Learn how the species that live there are interlinked and how human activities affect biodiversity in nature.
